Test Engineer Consultant

Mission Overview

We are seeking a Test Engineer for a consultancy mission at a client site, representing Keystone Solutions. The role involves identifying and resolving gaps in testing for an ongoing backend project, focusing on establishing a robust QA process that emphasizes testing, reviewing, and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• In the initial phase: Manage testing debt
• Conduct detailed analyses of the current test coverage of the system (including reviewing automated tests).
• Identify and document testing debt and testing gaps.
• Develop a plan to eliminate current testing debt and enhance overall test coverage and efficiency.
• Perform static testing of functional requirements documents.
• Assess the testability of the system (services, batches, etc.) and initiate improvement processes as needed, including describing the necessity for mocks, stubs, and drivers.
• Identify, contact, and interview stakeholders/three amigos for various items under test.
• Collaborate with test automators to create an automated regression set.
• Expose, analyze, and interpret discrepancies found between requirements, the system, and test cases.
• Formulate improvement proposals for functional analyses and the system.
• Report to management and clients on progress regarding testing debt and unwanted behavior within the system.
• In a second phase: Test activities within an Agile SCRUM environment
• Review analysis documents.
• Define test cases.
• Execute test cases and interpret test executions.
• Conduct functional reviews of user stories.
• Review automated test cases.
• Continuously coordinate the test environment to ensure the availability of the necessary material resources for the test project.
• Actively collaborate with the project manager, test coordinator, and/or management to ensure smooth communication regarding the integration of the test project into the overall project and in compliance with the company's quality strategy.
• Propose and defend the chosen test strategy.
• Prepare and manage test reports.
• Represent the 'quality' values of the Test Competency Center within project teams.
• Coach developers in test automation.
• Coach analysts to ensure testability.
• Consult with the test competency center.

Profile

• Thorough knowledge of test methodologies, tasks, and processes. Having an ISTQB foundation or advanced certification is a plus.
• Familiarity with using a test management tool, e.g., Testlink.
• Familiarity with using an issue & project management tool, e.g., Jira.
• Familiarity with using a collaboration tool, e.g., Confluence.
• Familiarity with test automation tools such as SOAPui, RESTassured, JUnit, Spring Boot Test, PostMan.
• Basic knowledge of development practices & test paradigms such as continuous integration & TDD.
• Basic knowledge of UML / BPMN.
• Basic knowledge of Java.
• Basic knowledge of SQL.
• Basic knowledge of git / svn.
• Good relational skills.
• Fluent in Dutch and French.

Duration: As soon as possible - 31/12/2027 15 months • (full time)
